The World has a new nation... South Sudan has finally become independent, as part of a peace deal aimed at ending three decades of Civil War.
UPDATED: The United States has officially recognized the new nation.
-Al-Jazeera has extensive coverage as well.
-The new national flag has been raised in the capitol of Juba.
And I just realized that my globe is now out of date. Again! (Interesting nerdy aside: who do you think will update their maps quicker- Google Maps or Mapquest?)
