New State For SoCal?

Apparently someone down there is floating the idea.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't think California is a lost cause. There are plenty of things they can do- including basic structural reforms to their state before they go so far as to break-up. Apparently, this new state would have no term limits and a part time legislature.

The fundamental problem comes down to the paucity of liberal thought in the 21st Century. Everything old is old again and seeking to preserve the old order of taxing and spending and government led social engineering is falling apart in the face of stone cold demographics and the age old problem America confronts year in and year out: we think things like public school and high speed rail and a dozen other things are awesome. We just don't want to pay for them.

(By the by, kids: conservatism is no better in it's current form. Corporatizing everything and making hay out of social issues just to get elected isn't getting us anywhere either. It's almost as if we need... a third party! DuVerger be DAMNED!)
