10 million people in the UK watched David Tennant take his final bow as Doctor Who yesterday to be replaced by this guy: 26 year old Matt Smith, the 11th Actor to step into the iconic science fiction role.
The revival of Doctor Who clicked for me in a big way- the special effects were awesome, the show comprehensible and even though Christopher Eccleston left after one season, David Tennant was a worthy replacement who went on to place himself right up there with the best of the Doctors and really made Doctor Who's comeback secure. The problem with Doctor Who, however, is that although the latest revival is awesome, it's like General Hospital- you can't possibly own them all, which is why although I'm glad Steven Moffat is taking over as executive producer (he was responsible for some truly excellent episodes in seasons past) I'll be bowing out of the Doctor Who DVD sets with David Tennant. Whether Matt Smith is up for the challenge, we'll just have to see.
